The external fed drum screen is a self-cleaning screen designed for solid/liquid separation.
It is used to remove solids of desired sizes from wastewater.
The drum screen consists of a self-cleaning drum called wedge wire. Due to its “V” shape, the wedge wire provides minimal clogging and has a very high permeability. Or a perforated sheet metal at desired hole sizes can be used depending on the shape of the solid waste flowing in the wastewater stream.
Drum screen is equipped with a drive motor and supported by two bearings and sealed against leakage from sides.
Wastewater is homogeneously distributed on the drum surface and solids are kept on the outer surface of the drum. The cleaning of the materials adhering to the surface is provided with the nozzles on the inside. The solid waste remaining on the drum is scraped with a scraper edge and pressure intensity of the wedge can be adjusted. The filtered wastewater then flows through the collection chamber and thereto the downstream of the treatment system.

The drum screen is made of AISI 304 and 316 stainless material and therefore can achieve the sifting of very small solids. This equipment runs on low electricity consumption and low operating costs.
