Wastewater Treatment for Textile Industry

Huge amount of water is consumed in textile production and the produced wastewater contains high amount of agents which cause damage both to environment and human health if disposed of without proper treatment. Main pollutants in textile wastewater is, high suspended solids, high amount of organic and inorganic pollutants, chemicals, dyes, turbidity, heavy metals, chemical oxygen demand (COD), biological oxygen demand (BOD), acidity, nitrogen and other soluble substances. Basically primary, secondary and tertiary treatment is used in textile industrial wastewater treatment plant.

Primary treatment is to remove excessive quantities of oil and grease, coarse suspended materials, turbidity and color. After the primary treatment, secondary treatment is mainly carried out for reducing the biological oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD) and phenol contents.

Most often used secondary treatment methods are aerated lagoon, trickling filtration, activated sludge process and oxidation ditch. Textile industry wastewater may also require tertiary treatment methods to remove particular contaminant or to reuse the effluent. EGESIS Environmental technologies Inc. has years of experience of  wastewater treatment plant  construction and planning in textile industry.
